DIRECTIONS TO ‘TERNS’ FROM
LONDON
Take M11 north, to Junction 9 then A11 towards Newmarket. Continue on A11
(it briefly joins the A14, so look out for A11 signs to Thetford and Norwich)
until junction with A47 (just beyond Wymondham). Turn right onto A47 towards Yarmouth.
After about 10 miles, at roundabout at end of second stretch of dual carriageway take
second exit,(A1064 to Caister and Hemsby). This takes you over the river at Acle Bridge.
A couple of miles after the bridge, take left fork (B1152, signposted Martham and South Walsham). After about
three miles there is a right-hand turn (B1159 to Martham and Winterton),
with a yellow-painted house on the corner - don’t take this, but take the next
left - a narrow lane across a field (following the telegraph poles).* At the
end of the lane (past a church on your right) turn right and immediate left
(Staithe Road). This takes you past two farms, a couple of houses and a
campsite, and there is then a very sharp right bend at the entrance to a holiday village.
Immediately after the bend, turn right into the gravel car park. Please park in the centre
or at the field edge, so as not to block access to the covered parking places.
*If you miss this
left turn, you will find yourself coming into Potter Heigham - take the left
turn at a playing field and bowling green (before the Q8 garage) which brings
you round the other side of the church, and you do a right turn into Staithe
Road instead.
If you are arriving after
dark you will need a torch for the walk down the path.
